Norsk Regnesentral (NR) is a private, independent, non-profit foundation established in 1952. NR performs contract research in the fields of information and communication technology (ICT), statistical modelling, and remote sensing and image analysis applied to the application areas of oil and gas, bank
and finance, climate and environment, industry and energy, health, and private and public services.

In the ICT field NR performs applied research within smart information systems, adaptive information security and privacy, risk and trust management. Key topics for NR are identity management, security assessment, security protocols and middleware, security in the Internet of Things, formal methods and
trustworthy software. NR has a long record of participation in relevant EC funded projects, e.g., CORAS (A Platform for Risk Analysis of Security Critical Systems), CREDO (Modelling and analysis of evolutionary structures for distributed services), ITEA-OSIRIS (Open Source Infrastructure for Run-time Integration of Services), GEMOM (Genetic Message-Oriented Secure Middleware), HATS (Highly Adaptable and Trustworthy Software using Formal Models), uTRUSTit (Usable TRUST in the Internet of Things), and FutureID (Shaping the Future of Electronic Identity). NR is also involved in relevant projects funded by the Research Council of Norway, e.g., PETweb II (Privacy Preserving Identity Management for e-Norway), and ASSET (Adaptive Security for Smart IoT in e-health).
